Keyword Density Analyzer
Extract and analyze the most frequently used words on any webpage.
Enter any website URL into the box to instantly download its textual content and analyze its keyword density. This tool strips away all HTML code, scripts, and styling to evaluate only the readable text exactly as a search engine crawler sees it.
It mathematically calculates the frequency and percentage of every single word used on the page. This is an essential SEO process to ensure your primary keywords are mentioned frequently enough to rank, while simultaneously ensuring you aren't triggering algorithmic penalties for unnatural keyword stuffing.
How it works
When you submit a URL, our backend servers securely fetch the raw HTML of the target page. We then utilize PHP's native DOMDocument engine to meticulously strip out all HTML tags, inline CSS styles, and JavaScript blocks, leaving behind only the pure, human-readable text payload.
Tokenization & Filtering: The raw text is then tokenized (broken down) into individual words. We automatically filter out common English "stop words" (such as the, and, with, this, etc.) because search engines generally ignore them when determining the topic of a page.
Algorithmic Counting: The remaining words are tallied and sorted by frequency. The final "Keyword Density" is calculated as a percentage: the number of times a specific word appears divided by the total number of valid words on the page. In modern SEO, a natural density between 1% and 3% for primary keywords is considered optimal.
Frequently asked questions
What is keyword stuffing?
Keyword stuffing is a black-hat SEO tactic where a specific keyword is unnaturally repeated dozens of times on a page in an attempt to manipulate search rankings. Google's algorithms (specifically the Panda update) actively penalize pages with unnaturally high keyword densities (e.g., above 5-10%).
Why are words like "the" and "and" missing from the results?
To provide actionable SEO data, this tool uses a "Stop Word" filter. It actively removes extremely common connective English words (like pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions) so that the actual topical nouns and verbs rise to the top of the frequency list.
Does this tool analyze text inside images?
No. Like traditional search engine crawlers, this tool only parses raw HTML text. It cannot read text baked into JPG or PNG images, which is why you must always use descriptive `alt` tags on your images for SEO purposes.
What is the ideal keyword density?
While there is no strict mathematical rule, modern SEO experts generally recommend keeping your primary keyword density between 1% and 3%. Write naturally for humans first, and the keyword density will usually take care of itself.
