Domain to IP Converter

Instantly resolve any domain name to its underlying IP addresses.

Enter any domain name or website address into the box to instantly reveal the underlying IP addresses where the website is hosted. This tool performs a real-time forward DNS lookup to resolve the human-readable domain into both its IPv4 (A record) and IPv6 (AAAA record) addresses.

This is incredibly useful for developers migrating websites to new servers who need to verify that DNS propagation has completed, or for security researchers attempting to identify the hosting provider or physical location of a specific server.

How it works

The internet relies entirely on numerical IP addresses to route traffic globally. Because humans cannot easily memorize long strings of numbers (like 142.250.190.46), the Domain Name System (DNS) was invented to act as the phonebook of the internet, mapping names to numbers.

The Resolution Process: When you submit a domain, our server acts as a DNS client. We reach out to the global DNS hierarchy—starting at the root servers and walking down to the domain's specific authoritative nameservers—to ask exactly which IP address is currently assigned to that name.

Multiple IP Addresses: Large websites rarely rely on a single server. It is extremely common for a single domain to return multiple IP addresses. This is a technique called DNS Round-Robin, which allows the website to load-balance millions of visitors across an entire cluster of servers or globally distributed CDN nodes.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a website give a different IP address every time I check?

Many large websites utilize Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) like Cloudflare, Fastly, or AWS CloudFront. These networks use geographic routing (Anycast DNS) to automatically return the IP address of the server physically closest to the person asking. Because our testing servers might be in a different country than your laptop, the returned IP might be different.

Can I find out who owns the IP address?

Yes. Once you have the IP address from this tool, you can copy it into a WHOIS lookup or an IP Geolocation tool to find out exactly which hosting company (e.g., DigitalOcean, AWS, Google Cloud) owns that server block.

What happens if I enter a full URL with https:// ?

The tool is smart enough to automatically strip out the
https://
,
http://
, and any trailing file paths (like
/about-us
). DNS operates strictly on hostnames, so we isolate the raw domain before performing the lookup.

What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?

IPv4 addresses look like `192.168.1.1` and are older. Because the world ran out of IPv4 addresses, IPv6 was created, which looks much longer (e.g., `2001:0db8:85a3::8a2e`). If a website supports modern IPv6, this tool will display both sets of records simultaneously.
