URL Parser & Extractor
Break down any URL into its component parts (scheme, host, path, query).
Paste any web address (URL) into the box to instantly deconstruct it into its core component parts. The tool breaks the link down into its underlying scheme, hostname, port, file path, query parameters, and fragment identifier, making it incredibly easy to read and debug.
This utility runs entirely on our secure backend servers. Your inputted URLs are never logged in our server access logs, never stored in a persistent database, and never shared with third-party tracking services. We respect your privacy, especially when debugging sensitive API endpoints.
How it works
A Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is often long, convoluted, and difficult to read—especially when it includes dozens of encoded tracking parameters or deeply nested API paths. This tool utilizes PHP's robust parse_url() and parse_str() functions to safely tear the URL apart according to the official RFC 3986 standard.
Deconstruction: It intelligently separates the protocol (like https) from the domain name (like example.com). It identifies any non-standard ports, isolates the specific file path, and finally extracts the exact query string (the part after the ? mark) and the fragment (the part after the # mark).
Query Decoding: If the URL contains a query string, the tool goes one step further and automatically decodes and parses the parameters into a clean, readable table. This is extremely useful for verifying Google Analytics UTM tags or deciphering complex API request payloads without straining your eyes.
Frequently asked questions
Does this tool actually visit or click the URL?
Absolutely not. This is a purely structural text parser. We do not perform any network requests, DNS lookups, or ping the server in any way. It is completely safe to paste broken, malformed, or highly sensitive internal API URLs.
Why are some parts of my URL missing in the results?
If a specific component (like the port, query string, or fragment) is not explicitly defined in the URL you pasted, it will simply be omitted from the parsed output table.
Is my URL securely handled?
Yes. It is parsed securely within volatile memory during the web request and immediately discarded from RAM. Absolutely nothing is written to the hard disk or sent to a third party.
Does it handle URL-encoded characters?
Yes, when it extracts the query parameters into the data table, it automatically decodes any URL-encoded characters (like <code>%20</code> becoming a space) so you can actually read the raw values easily.
What if the URL is completely invalid?
If the string provided is so malformed that it violates standard RFC rules and cannot be parsed at all, the tool will return a safe error message rather than attempting to guess the structure.
