JSON to CSV Converter
Convert JSON arrays or objects into flat CSV tables.
Paste an array of JSON objects to instantly convert them into a flat CSV (Comma Separated Values) format, ready to be opened in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or imported directly into a relational SQL database.
Nested objects and arrays are dynamically flattened into dot-notation columns (e.g., address.city or user.profile.name). Processing happens instantly in memory and your highly sensitive JSON payloads are never stored, never logged, and never sent anywhere else.
How it works
JSON is inherently hierarchical and deeply nested, while CSV is completely flat and two-dimensional. To successfully bridge this gap, this tool comprehensively scans the entire JSON payload to discover all possible keys across every single object before writing the final CSV headers. This guarantees that even if a specific key only appears in the very last object of an array, it still gets a dedicated column in the resulting spreadsheet.
Flattening: If an object contains another nested object, the keys are seamlessly combined with a dot. For example, {"user": {"name": "Alice"}} becomes a single column cleanly named user.name. If an array of simple string or integer values is found, it is joined with commas so you don't lose any nested data.
Encoding: The resulting CSV is perfectly compliant with the standard RFC 4180 format. Quotes, commas, and multiline string newlines inside your data values are safely escaped so that spreadsheet software imports the file flawlessly without breaking rows.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to deeply nested JSON objects?
They are automatically flattened using dot notation. If your JSON has a "location" object with a nested "city" property, the CSV will output a column named "location.city". This works for infinitely deep objects.
What if the JSON objects have completely different keys?
The tool performs a pre-flight scan of all objects in the array to build a master list of all unique columns. If an object is missing a particular key, the CSV will simply have an empty cell for that column, ensuring grid alignment is maintained perfectly.
Is my corporate data secure?
Absolutely. Processing runs entirely in volatile server memory and is securely discarded the exact moment the response is sent back to your browser. Your JSON is never saved to a database, written to a disk cache, or indexed by search engines.
What is the maximum JSON payload size?
You can process up to 2 MB of raw JSON data at a time. If you need to convert massive, multi-gigabyte log files, you should utilize a local command-line JSON parsing utility (like jq) to stream the data efficiently.
How are JSON arrays inside the objects handled?
If it is a simple array of strings or numbers (e.g., `["red", "blue"]`), they are joined together into a single CSV cell separated by commas. If it is a complex array of objects, the tool will JSON-encode that specific array into a single string cell to preserve the data without breaking the CSV structure.
